United Methodist Women (UMW)

There’s a group of women at Hopewell whose impact on our church, community, country and even world is significant! Their efforts go relatively unnoticed and without recognition on a local level but they prefer it that way. Hopewell UMW have long been involved in giving money to help those in need, wherever they may be in these United States or the world. We are part of a larger group of women concerned with enlightening people to situations around the globe where attention is needed, as well as learning about the global mission of the church through Jesus Christ. We also like to fellowship through our monthly meetings, along with district and conference programs that are rich with empowerment and advocacy.

Each month we gather to pray for people in our own church, as well as family and friends of other churches. On the second Monday of each month at 7pm, or the second Tuesday of each month at 10am, we come together to hear a program that lets us be witnesses to the love of Jesus. Our members take turns being hostesses of each of our meetings with delicious goodies, and some take part in leading program presentations. Each July we pick a place to go out to eat and enjoy each others company.

Hopewell UMW are about mission – giving to a local family in needs, contributing to the community Angel Tree Program at Christmas, making sure kids have snacks each night at Vacation Bible School and each one of us pledging a certain dollar amount to go towards global mission work. Our group of ladies is about education- we want to learn what the situations are that are taking place overseas in countries that are impoverish and in need of help. We also want to find out about places in our own country where the UMW are helping alleviate poverty, hunger, sickness and abuse. Please join us and find out more about this wonderful group of women at Hopewell UMC.
